  25.      You can use 'Buttons!' to help design BWCC style bitmap buttons. It
  26. helps you  by managing the six bitmaps that you require for (S)VGA and
  27. EGA support and by calculating appropriate shadows and effects which are
  28. consistent with the 'Borland look'.
  29.  
  30. You have version 1.01 of 'Buttons' but I have now completed version 1.2.

  32. This includes:

  34.   + Underscore right after the '&'
  35.   + Text on left,on right, centred or user defined
  36.   + Variable Font,Colour,size
  37.   + Buttons Resize feature
  38.  
  39. This version is available to all users who register 'Buttons' from now on.

  41. Installation
  42. ------------
  43.  
  44. Copy the file 'bitlib.dll' to your \windows\system directory and copy
  45. the file 'buttons.hlp' to your \windows directory. If your version of
  46. BWCC.DLL in the \windows\system directory is older than that included in
  47. this archive then you should replace it with that included in this
  48. archive. You can copy the buttons.exe file to wherever you like!

  50. Creating a set of buttons - quick guide
  51. ---------------------------------------

  53. This is an extract from the online help
  54.  
  55.      To create a new set of buttons select the 'File | New' option from
  56. the menu. You will be presented with a dialogue box allowing you to set
  57. the size of buttons that you wish to create. The defaults given in the
  58. dialogue box are those usually used for BWCC Borland style buttons.
  59.  
  60.      After you select the desired size the program creates 8 blank
  61. buttons. You can edit any of these buttons with the Microsoft Paintbrush
  62. application by double clicking on the desired button face. However it is
  63. suggested that you only edit the template buttons (VGATemp and EGATemp)
  64. for a start. You should only edit the others as a last resort to touch
  65. up any effects you are not happy with and to add any effects of your
  66. own.

  68.      Before instructing 'Buttons' to generate effects you also need to
  69. select the 'Buttons | Set Text' menu option to edit the text you would
  70. like to appear on the button face.

  72.      Select 'Buttons | Generate' and 'Buttons' will add text, shadows
  73. and movement to your buttons. After generation you may edit the
  74. individual buttons to add any other effects.

  76.      Finally..... Select 'Buttons | Write resource data' to write the
  77. data to disk as individual bitmap files which are readable by the
  78. resource compiler (or Borland Resource Workshop)

  83.      The 'EXAMPLE.ZIP' file contains all the files that you need to
  84. compile an example program that uses a bitmap button. This file also
  85. contains the '.BUT' and '.BMP' files as well as '.RC' and '.RES' files.
